ECO-ARTs WORKSHOPS

Picture
Erica's eco-arts work incorporates values, practices, and knowledge of:
  • local ecology & land-based learning
  • site-specificity
  • natural & organic materials
  • upcycling & waste diversion
  • ethnoecology & traditional plant uses
  • seasonal change & observation
  • environmental justice
  • sustainability

Through eco-arts workshops, participants gain new ways of understanding and relating to their local environment. Participants explore mediums such as printmaking (cyanotype, linocut block prints, monoprints, spore prints), flower pressing, paper art, mixed-media, & more.

"I had the privilege of participating in a 1-1 eco-arts mentorship with Erica in spring 2025. Over several weeks, we engaged with local ecology in neighbourhoods across west Toronto. Throughout this time, I developed skills across a range of printmaking techniques, including botanical prints, cyanotypes, and working with organic materials.

Erica encouraged a thoughtful relationship between process, environment, and material. The guidance I received was insightful, supportive, and expertly tailored to my individual development as a botanical artist.

By the end of our mentorship, I was able to produce and install my first public exhibition: a series of large-scale poppy flowers. This experience was both inspiring and transformative, and has had a lasting impact on my creative direction."
