This past April, I created an installation for Trampoline Hall at The Garrison, which I am reproducing for an event at my studio this Saturday, June 20. If you are interested in visiting/joining me, you are very welcome do so. More info below.  Open Studio event details:
The installation will be a communal altar—informed by Cantonese traditions—to honour beloveds who have passed onto the spirit world. If you would like to participate, I welcome guests to bring offerings for the altar, such as flowers or a plant, a photo of a loved one who has passed, or other ephemeral objects that hold meaning in relation to your ancestors.
In addition the altar, I will also have work available to view, including a new artist book produced in collaboration with Butterfly Toronto as the guestbook from their inaugural Asian Massage Festival. (Fingers crossed I complete the work in time for the event...!) The event is free to attend and will also feature readings of new work by playwright Celeste Sansregret, a paper fish making workshop led by Atleigh Homma, sculptural works by Sophia Kyungwon Kim, original paintings and fabric books by Lan "Florence" Yee, ceramics by Amy Rogers, fine art prints by Nile X and Kit Li, mixed-media work by Beverley Daniels, installation art by Mel Fisher-Rozenberg, zines/linocut prints/illustration work by Laura de Santis, makerspace demos with George Pajari, stained glass art by Susan Ashdown, and much more...! Cofffee/tea/snacks will be available to purchase on-site, provided by Sam Moffatt-Sanz and sold to raise funds to develop the inaugural Resonance Residency program for artists. This is a family-friendly event and kids are very much welcomed to attend. The building is an old rectory that is, unfortunately, not wheelchair accessible. There are approximately 5 steps to enter the building and narrow staircases to access the upper and lower floors of the building. Comments are closed.
